Hello, I am pleased to announce a cps2 emulator for the n900. It is a port form cps2emu for the gp2x. At this time only a compiled.tar.gz and source code is avaliable. Unfortunately a.deb package is not ready. Also, there isn't a frontend or graphical tool to launch the emulator.
Then, terminal skills are needed to be able to run the emulator. Perhaps someone could help creating a cool frontend and a.deb package.;) Please, read README.N900 before install/run the emulator! I put it in home/user/MyDocs/documents/ I think I tried it ib home/user as well, I'll mess with it at work. If anything I'll run romcnv on a PC but I tried running cps2emu and get the same permission denied error, so I think I'm stuck figuring out that problem, hehe. The problem is that /home/user/MyDocs is a fat32 partition. It should be installed in a ext3 partition. Delete it from MyDocs, copy the tar.gz in /home/user, and in /home/user execute tar xvzf cps2emubin-0.1.tar.gz Then it should work:).

Delete it from MyDocs, copy the tar.gz in /home/user, and in /home/user execute tar xvzf cps2emubin-0.1.tar.gz Then it should work:) Yeah I actually got it working on the subway on my way to work. I started over in /home/user/ and it went ok. I did have to run romcnv as root for some reason but whatever. WOOOOOWWWWW is all I can say really. The performance was amazing. I tested using 1944, which has a lot going on on the screen, didn't really notice any slowdown or performance issues. Using the arrow keys its damn hard to move diagonally up though.
Now we just need a nice frontend with some config options for keymapping (or I guess I could get used to playing games southpaw). Would it be difficult to map diagonals to keys?
I'm not counting on playing any of the fighters with the keyboard but the shoot-em ups/beat-em ups would be great with a little help hitting the diagonals. I've been thinking really hard lately.I think I've found a nice solution to using diagonals on the keypad. Instead of having Up+right or Up+left commands, I think it would be much better/wiser if some one implemented the idea of having two right and left buttons so that button layout would be like this (I'm terrible at explaining). My idea layout: LEFT UP RIGHT LEFT DOWN RIGHT Q W E A S D Q=Left, W=Up, E=Right A=Left, S=Down, D=Right if someone was to allow user to make such a layout gaming commands would be much easier and precise, I dont want to make a long post so to make things short.
The above layout would make movements in fighters like SF2 and also 3d adventures like supermario much more precise and accurate and would require less keys to configure. Lets face it, take for example short hopping/jumping in KOF or MvC.tapping a key already assigned to UP+Right wouldn't allow you to perform such a task.with the above layout you can tap / hold down Up and Right to short hop accurately enough. All one has to do is imagine the above layout on the keypad and compare it to the below layout and reason which concept would be more ideal to implement.I thought this up while playing a variety of emulated games and imagining how practical the controls would be to implement on the n900 since it lacks diagonals. General idea everyone has UP+LEFT UP UP+RIGHT LEFT DOWN RIGHT DOWN+LEFT DOWN+RIGHT Also It would be an even more grand idea if the concept of.MACROS' were implemented in the mobile emulators since it would allow users to manually assign their own custom commands to any one key press.for example the user would manually be able to assign the command Down+Right+A+B (the shinkou hadouken command) to the 'enter' button on the keypad.and allow users to save their custom configurations to seperate files and conveniently load em for each game.
General idea everyone has UP+LEFT UP UP+RIGHT LEFT DOWN RIGHT DOWN+LEFT DOWN+RIGHT Thirding this idea. Would it be possible to map the keys on the left and right of UP to handle UP+LEFT and UP+RIGHT respectively? Great job on the emulator! Hey Smoku I am a well respected member of the Street Fighter community and also was very involved in PSP emulation so maybe I can shed some light on this issue. I registered here today just to explain why the CPS-2 Emulator is a good idea as a standalone program.
From what I can tell from this thread it is based off the emu that the GP2X and PSP use, which takes sprites and breaks them up into separate files taking a lot of the load off the system. It was a genius way to work around the low RAM of the PSP. This system only works on CPS-2 and NeoGeo arcade games.
(Japanese developer created the base for this emu on PSP, maybe some source can be used for that?) Games from what I can tell would not be possible to run full speed in MAME because MAME can't handle the split files. Most CPS-2 Games would also run pretty sluggishly on the SDL Mame we have out, and probably couldn't be run reasonably as the CPS2 system covers games up until 1996 or so. The original NeoGeo Emulator and CPS2 Emu that run most stuff full speed on PSP (with less advanced hardware!) have many games that are improbable to run with MAME. (Marvel Vs Series, Super SFII Turbo, Saturday Nigh Slam Masters etc) Honestly I would like to see both of the GP2X projects gnGeo for NeoGeo cabs and CPS1/2 have installable.debs for n900. The original dev also made a fullspeed CPS-1 emulator that was ported over to GP2X as well from PSP that works fullspeed on all those games. If you want more info about the original dev and what not maybe I can do some digging and PM you? Anyway, thanks for your great work so far man, love the PS3 controller capability!
Thanks for the extensive information. This confirms my own finds: DnD games run on CPS2EMU on my N900 full speed with fine sound and I've seen reports of 50% speed on SDLMAME. Is NeoGeo the base system for the Metal Slug series? If so, I am interested in it.:) Where's the source?:D Metal Slug would be the perfect accompaniment on the N900. Does Ghouls & Ghosts also use CPS2?
I can't remember offhand. We'd need easier diagonals for that. I've tried on DrNokSnes and it's not easy without a bluetooth joystick/pad. Also, would games like 19xx require portrait mode to take advantage of the whole screen? Hi all:D will this run playstation 2 games?and what kind of speed quality/playability is possible with this emu?i had a ps2 emu for my pc but hardly worked well.and it would be funny as hell if this would be perfectly playable because i had 3ghz for on the pc version but this is half a gig lol. Any ideas when it will be officially available on the maemo downloads?whats going on with the ps1 emulator? Also could somebody please tell me if there is/will be a dreamcast emulator for the n900?
Thanks in advance. Loving the maemo community x.

Is NeoGeo the base system for the Metal Slug series? If so, I am interested in it.:) Where's the source?:D Yes, the NeoGeo emulator that came out for PSP and GP2x runs everything from Metal Slug all the way up to King of Fighters 2000, I think you'd be looking for gnGeo for GP2X. As far as Ghouls and Ghosts or Ghosts and Goblins, most of the capcom classics run on CPS-1. 1943, GnG series, Street Fighter I through Street Fighter II Turbo.
CPS-2 supports stuff like Marvel Super Heroes, Marvel vs Street Fighter, Super SFII Turbo, and some newer shooters. A good benchmark for a speed test of your CPS-2 Emu Port, Smoku, would probably be something like Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter or Street Fighter Alpha 3. Those games should CRAWL on the SDL Mame emu lol! (But ran damn near full on PSP!) Unfortunately I broke my PSP over a year ago and don't have GP2X so I don't know where the sources can be found anymore. All I know is that they were all done by the same Japanese developer so the code should be pretty similar for all of them.
Thanks for taking these projects over man! Good luck and if you need some info about proper speed/interaction on most CPS-2 games I have been playing Street Fighter long enough to figure out when things aren't right. Honestly I would like to see both of the GP2X projects gnGeo for NeoGeo cabs and CPS1/2 have installable.debs for n900. Are your talking about the psp emu source?
That emu was great was able to play all vs hames and street fighter anniversay edition lol @ the guy who wants to emulate ps3 on this phone so hows the emu running guys? Anyone tried it with ps3 pad? Im at work so cant try now thanks to author and smoku edit: btw im on the github link but where is the deb file?:o sorry not clued up with this as its my bros phone. Hey, nice to know that smoku are going to programm a frontend and create a.deb package for the emu!
Thank you!:) smoku, if you have a garage account, i can add you into the cps2emu project members in garage. Hi,kkito, why do I have https: / / garage.maemo.org/projects/cps2emu / download only down two compression packages, one of which can not decompress! Hello, I am aN900 ueser from China, very much like to install the CPS2 emulator Can you give me a perfect installation of tutorials, as well as accessories.
Here is my e-mail: jaffer1986@126.com Thank U very much!My English a little bit worse,Sorry! Hello, perhaps is better if you await until.deb and frontend are done. Smoku is working on it.
Kkito can u port some emus from here? Sorry but those emus are for psp and are optimized for it. Porting to an arm architecture is not trivial.
A lot of code should be rewritted. The cps2emu source code that i take was from a gp2x port, gp2x has similar architecture and only a little bit of code was rewritted to be able to run on the n900.
Anyways, i did a gngeo port with some optimitzations for the n900, but i didnt publish it yet because lack of time. Perhaps someone is interested on it. Are your talking about the psp emu source? It would be nice to have some gp2x gamers in here.
Dude post your instructions how u got the emu running i.e which dir u extracted what commands need to inputed in terminal also hows does super street fighter anniversary edition and street fighter alpha 1 2 3 play? Hi mate, Theres no need to post how I did it as I used the instructions that are posted at the beginning of this thread. Street fighter alpha 3 plays spot on, on the phone. But as smoku pointed out on the sixaxis thread when u have the controller connected via bt it seems to use a lot of the phones resources so makes the game stutter. If you wanted to mod the buttons on a sixaxis to work the cps2emu like I did f2thak has done a how to on the sixaxis thread. Yeah I actually got it working on the subway on my way to work. I started over in /home/user/ and it went ok.

I am not too familiar with Linux.I have a windows pc and I tried to follow your inst.
But HONESTLY don’t get it. You seem to be giving simple instructions but it’s not so simple to me? Point 1 - Download the cps2emu tar.gz file You mention to download the tar file.there are two files there.source and bin files: (cps2emubin-0.1.tar.gz & cps2emusrc-0.1.tar.gz).which one do I download and do I download it on my PC or on the N900? Pont 2 - Copy the tar.gz to /home/user/ Is this folder already created on the phone by default (when brought brand new from shops?) or do you need to create it as new folder as I have not managed to access this if it is supposed to be already there on the N900.maybe I deleted it when I fiddled with it? Gov.I am sure if you can just help me with the above points I can do this.or a step by step dummy’s guide.or a video.anything.This is the one thing I really wanted to do with the phone!!!!!!!!!!! Your help would be much appreciated.Thanks.

Can someone help me? I've got the roms, the folder, did the cache part using a windows pc, altough I got some errors with some roms. Have transferred the files via mass storage mode to my N900. Am trying to run from X-T as root but can't get any game to load. Also the files are in N900 I think 32GB mem and not on 'roots', is it wrong? If it is, how to move the files to 'roots'? And the emulator instalation file (tar gz ) won't open, tried to open with App Manager and it says file corrupted.
Please, can someone explain me in a easy way as I am new at Linux and N900, ( only 11 days )? I came from a N95.

I am interested on the gngeo port for the n900, do you still have it? Maybe I can package it. I made some work on CPS2emu, and put two.deb files at garage: - Version 0.4 - Now we have a key to exit (BACKSPACE) - I made a 'auto-detect' for PS3® sixaxis/dualshock3 controller - When PS3 controller is detected, all keys are remapped to PS3 layout (PS) exit game SELECT are coins - ROM Option can be accessed with key 'O' - I made a Qt4 gui for use with cps2emu, are two packages for now. You must put your zipped roms, on /MyDocs/ROMs/CPS2 directory. Don't delete others files on /MyDocs/ROMs/CPS2, or you need a reinstall - I renamed romcnv to cps2romcnv - GUI detects if you rom was cached or not and loads romcnv - cps2emu is ready to extras-devel, but I need more time on gui side.
This is my first Qt4 project, The best tool I ever used! All help and suggestions are welcome! ##### EDIT ##### cps2gui, new version https://garage.maemo.org/frs/download.php/8997/cps2gui0.4.1armel.deb.

I planning add a option to choose the folder for roms, need wait! Hi thank you very much for the emulator, I also have mame wich is great, but this one plays some games better, altough doesnt play neogeo games, is there a way to map keys for each game or for all games and a pause emulation button? It is playing great on my oc900mhz. Thank u again. A Pause button? I going try todo some thing on SDL.
You dont need overclock to play CPS2 game with it. About Mame, I compiled a old version, xmame you can found it on garage: This works very well at full speed without overclocks on N900 and N8xx! Map buttons are hardcoded, is very possible has a keymap per game, but I need do a software for my Graduate course before!:D OK! Lets planning 0.5-r1:;) - A Pause button; - Can use ROMs from any directory; - Read and Write a Config.ini file with application options C/C and Qt4 rulez!! I did it yesterday but couldn't post due to the connectivity problems at TMO. I have tested the new package and still see the same errors as in 0.4 while installing. Inspecting the package I can see that you are trying to cp some files directly to the location /home/user/MyDocs/ROMs/CPS2.
If the folder doesn't exist there will be the error I reported in my latest post. Just try to put this command in the package: if ! -f /home/user/MyDocs/ROMs ; then mkdir -p /home/user/MyDocs/ROMs/CPS2; fi Just before the 'cp' command. What I can't see is where that Wesnoth message came from.
Have to check if it's a problem with my system. For those that had problems trying to install, simply be sure that the folder exists before installing. Regarding the emulator, I have only tested D&D TOD and works like a charm. I'll try to find some time to test more games, does it support CPS1 games?
Thankfully however I was able to find a pdf copy online, and I would like to share it here. Unfortunately I was unable to obtain a copy as each time there was always some counter bidding me, so I let each of the ones I bid on go, with the intention of not having to make the other person have to pay more than they wanted to. Abdal hakim murad lectures.
What I really miss now is the ability to change keyboard configuration, even if this has to be done by manually editing I file so I could use it with my GameGripper. Take a look at Javispedro GUI for PicoDrive, this could be helpful for implement new features in the future. Keep working!!:D. Hey man, thank you for the reply and for the Emu.
I will try to play with normal CPU Clock to see the speed. With Mame I need overclock for most of the games, another question and/or request, is there a way for the 2 players (coin 2), am planning to buy a ps3 cont and want to play versus. Will look for your XMame Emu to see if it is better than Mame. The Emu is only for CPS2 games or CPS1 aswell, tried 'dino' and didn't create the cache, some games create the cache but is missing some files and the game can't start. So far I have sfa sfa2 sfa3 nwarriors darktalkers ssf2 ssf2turbo mvsc mshvsf xmvsf and few others all working great. So we have Mame Xmame and CPS2 Emulators, many choices. Anunakin, I tried your xmame on garage, downloaded and opened with app manage and got 'unable to install' something wrong with package, do you know what it can be?
BTW as I have Mame installed aswell I put the CPS2 folder inside my roms folder from Mame on massmem, some roms are the same from both, so I tried copying some of them inside the CPS2 folder and no problem, of corse I created the folder CPS2 before installing the Emu. You need on X-Terminal like root, use 'dpkg -i' to install. Uploading cps2emu 0.6 to extras-devel and garage changelog cps2emu (0.6) unstable; urgency=high.
postinst revised, again. We not need /MyDocs/ROMs/CPS2 anymore. State SAVE and LOAD working, use 'l' to show MENU.
CPS2gui now can load from any folder. Last file and folder used, when reopen cps2gui. HiScore working, romname.hi are saved to './hi'. Save state on exit and load state on start a game, saved to './state'.
Autocreate./nvram and./hi. Config file at /.config/cps2emu/cps2gui.conf. Where is the menu?
Same as LucianoBraga, custom keyboard configuration please. It is what we are needing, save states, thank you. I just read your post Anunakin, but still nothing to me, how to conf keys? I think I need to edit conf file but how to do that, am new on N900, is with xterm? In game Use 'L' key (Lima), for access emulator Menu.
You dont need to edit config file, CPS2gui do all hard task. Configuration/GUI file don't support remap keys, for now key are hardcoded. CPS2gui not have menus, this have a lot of code to do things happen. I planning do a CONTROLS button like on others emulators GUIs, but we really need it? I thinking code a way to: 1- Use keyboard to player 2 and PS3 sixaxis for player 1, when detect it. 2- Use 4 sixaxis for play 4 players games:D 3- Can remap keys, for keyboard and sixaxis;). Really, is there a separate CPS1 Emu? ' Use keyboard to player 2 and PS3 sixaxis for player 1, when detect it.
' Or vice-versa or 2 sixaxis, altough I don't have even 1, but plann to buy 1 then the second, maybe both if I find a good price. Anyway, I also apreciatte your work, thank you. About buttons: on Mame, now I am using SDLMame to see the differences I use q w e a s d for key 1 2 3 4 5 6, directions I put on keypad, bit diferent, but I got use to, you only would need change z x c for a s d on your emulator. Hello i tried your cps2 in my n900 with 950mhz cpu and ps3 gamepad and run well alien vs predator, street fighter alpha 3 for example. You can play with this gamepad it is perfect but start button or select o add credits not configurated in gamepad, i searched this in keyboard but well, i played well. Xmame 1.06 n900 installed in xterminal with dpkg -i but how start this emulator?? Graphic gui interface?
Only start with xterminal comands??? Thanks CPS2emu with SixAxis use: SELECT for coins START for start player1 xMame 1.06 has x-terminal commands only. Hope this helps. After download i placed all my roms in a folder inside.documents and then tried to run them, but i was asked to create a cache file. After 140 seconds or so the cache was created and it starts booting the rom normally however i get this: ERROR: file not found or CRC32 not correct, 'CPU1' click any button. I noticed in the file where i placed my roms a folder called hi and another called cashe with a third folder called 'nvrom' or something like that were created. Any help guys?

Any help guys? Are you using CPS2 ROMs, because this emulator cant run CPS1 ROMs. Any news on a keyboard configuration option?
This would make the emulator simply amazing.:D No time to work on CPS2emu. Wait a bit more. I need work with a IR range sensor. I know you're busy and I want to thank you for the great emulator. I originally asked for this a long time ago.
I started a thread called cps2 emulator? You came thru. Just wanted to say a big thank you. I know you're busy, but at your convienence, I was hoping maybe for a custom config as I recently bought as game gripper and there is not one single game I'd rather play on the go than marvel vs. Capcom (cept maybe mvc2 but that's impossible). I know I'm asking alot and you've done so much already but that would be mobile bliss.
Thank you for all your hard work, time, and your dedication either way. 19xx is a CPS1 game, dont run on this emulator.sorry, i disagree. I can run 19xx: The War Against Destiny just fine on the emulator except the screen is rotated to be in portrait mode, which is what the original arcade machine does. And this game is meant for the CPS2 hardware. There was also another game that does this - dimahoo. So either a keyboard remap (would still be odd to hold the phone sideways and try to press the keys) or some kinda software screen rotation (would look really squashed) which can be configured from the menu that you pull up using 'L'. Hi guys, yesterday night I made a modified version of the cps2emu by Anunakin, the only difference is that it has the keyconfig support!:) No graphical interface for the moment, you have to modify the 'keyconfig.cfg' file in the '/user/.cps2emu' directory.
You can use every character of the keyboard except the space (that is used for enter in the menu) and can use also the special words 'KEYUP', 'KEYDOWN', 'KEYLEFT', 'KEYRIGHT' and 'KEYENTER'. You have to insert the key one per line in the file in this order: This is an example of the config file with standard key config: KEYUP KEYDOWN KEYLEFT KEYRIGHT u t a s d z x c q w e I know it isn't a beautiful config file.but it works well:) Enjoy with your game-gripper! And thank you to Anunakin for this fantastic emulator!! This is excellent work thanks a lot:d However.for some reason i cant get the 'up' key to work? Ive assigned the keys to work with my gamegripper and all the other keys work fine.however the key 'w' wont assign to the up controls:( Ive made sure the w is lower case and theres no gaps but still wont work. This is the best emulator for me so far.
It runs flawlessly. If it work for this, why doesn't it work for other emulators like MAME.i try it out and it doesn't run correctly. CPS2 works flawlessly. Street Fighter Alpha 3 is just like the arcade.and some of those side scroll shooter like 1944 is amazing. Now i want an emulator for MORTAL KOMBAT.enough of street fighter!! NEO GEO maybe??? I know you probably can play Metal Slug on Neo Geo.
By the way, i am playing it with the PS3 controller and it's amazing. This is the best emulator for me so far.

Loving the maemo community x No, donkey breath. This emulator runs Capcom Arcade games, not PS2 games lol. I am having the same problem both for mvc and sfzero3. Is it possible to disable joystick recognition? Is there a command line parameters guide somewhere (i'm using the version with key mapping support).
When i connect my DS3 controller, the emulator recognizes it and switches to use it, but i'm using key mappings for it with a different configuration so it doesn't work well. I want to disable its recognition by the emulator and use only keyboard (or the joystick mapped to it) Thanks. OK - Patched the executable myself - ps3 joystick is not found by emulator anymore and i am using it in key mappings mode. Can the same config file be edited to add UP RIGHT and UP LEFT with n900's keyboard? I am having problems launching roms on this emulator. I had it on my last N900 but I forgot how to install it. If I install from the App Man, I did it, then followed those instructions 1.
Download the cps2emu tar.gz file from 2. Copy the tar.gz to /home/user/ 3. Extract the file tar -xzvf cps2emu.tar.gz This will leave you with a folder called cps2emu. Place zipped rom(s) in /home/user/cps2emu/romcnv/ 5. Create cache files using romcnv./romcnv -all 6.
Move your zipped rom(s) to /home/user/cps2emu/roms/ 7. Move the cache files created in step 5 to /home/user/cps2emu/cache/ 8. Launch your game! From /home/user/cps2emu/./cps2emu romname Have moved the tar.gz file to home/user and got errors on terminal Also I don't want to put roms on home/user because there's not much space on it I remember that my roms were on MyDocs before. And as I remember the app can create cache files directly on the emu itself altough 1 in 1 rom, but I don't mind.
Can someone give more detailed instructions on how to make it run after have the emu installed using the App Man? I tried also without installing the emulator. When I point the app to the roms directories it shows no files and I have more than 30 roms.
Thank you for everyone who could help me. Gleydsonpr, It's been a long time ago when I installed this application. As I understand you have installed cps2gui using the application manager. Then there is no need for cps2emu tar.gz. This file has the same content of the deb you already have installed, but also contains the sources. There is no obligation to keep the roms in /home/user. It was the case in older versions afaik.
I do have my roms in a CPS2 folder in MyDocs. This map contains the subfolders state, cache, hi and nvram If you use cps2emu from the command prompt, make sure your are in the same directory as your roms are, else it will fail. So in your current state you described (including created cache), try: cd /home/user/cps2emu/roms/ mv /home/user/cps2emu/cache. Cps2emu romname.zip Good luck and please post the error message if it still fails. Moving the roms to MyDocs should be the next step. Hi all, anyone facing this problem? Emulator does not recognize my standard usb joypad (last version of gngeo works like a charm) so I would try the catch with xjoypad (I managed it in picodrive and drnoksnes).
Anyway, everytime I attach the joypad emulator goes into 'joypad mode', disabling keyboard ccntrol and so xjoypad becomes useless. I tried the command line switch no-extinput (it should disable joypad detection) but no luck with it.
I'm using modified binary posted above containing key remapping feature. Am i doing something wrong?
Anyone did manage to get this emulator working with xjoypad an generic usb pad? Thank you very much, help would be appreciated in order to play marvelous capcom classics (TV OUT rules!!):D.
Does anyone have Jockey Grand Prix (jockeygp.zip) working on the neogeo emu? I have the correct files, they don't fail the CRC check, and i built the cache file. I also have a complete set of bios files.
When i run this game it gets past the checks, then the bios starts to load, the screen goes black and about 20 seconds later the PSP shuts off. I've tried a few different bios files, including the universe 2.2 file (as that is the last officially supported version). Everything else is working as it should (well i'm not done fully sorting but every other rom i've tested up to 'J' is working on this emu without fail). So, anyone got it working? I'd like to compare CRC values of the working files.another world. Hi xist, i'm using a psp 3000.
I have not been able to find a source for the supported roms, which are from mame 0.120. That mame set is from 2007-ish and i can't find anyone hosting such old files.
I've instead grabbed random roms until i found one with all of the correct files. The files in the zip are checked by the emu for their crc value, and the files in my zip are passing. I'm assuming then that the files are correct but i can't be 100% sure.
With that said, i've tried both mame roms and a neogeo set. I was only able to find 1 zip that had the jgp-m1decrypted.bin file.
It seems it was removed from later mame sets. So again, i'm assuming the.zip i have is correct. I am running a few plug-ins. They were given to me by someone who sent me a pre-configured set-up. I'm not 100% sure how to disable them. The whole CFW is something of a mystery to me right now, i'm poking in the dark trying to catch up with 4+ years of missed PSP developments. The plug-ins i have are: categorylite joysens mp3playlite could any of those be causing an issue?
Edit: kf2k3pcb is passing the crc check, i made a cache file from the zip, but it is loading to a black screen. The neogeo bios splash screen never loads.
In this case the emu is not shutting down the psp, i can press the home button and go back to the rom selection list, etc.another world. There's always the potential that a plugin may cause issues with an emulator.none of those you're running are particularly bad offenders in causing issues, and i doubt that they are, but it's a (tiny) possibility. Don't worry about disabling them for now. I had a look through my Neo Geo collection but unfortunately i don't have this particular game so i can't test it for myself at the moment. Have you tried any other earlier revisions of MVSPSP to test the ROM and see if the results are the same?
How about testing the game on a PC Neo Geo emulator to see if it's good? It's something that's difficult to diagnose given the relative obscurity of the game and the age of the emulator itself. In the meantime i'll see if i can track down a functioning version of the game to determine if the experiences you're having are universal. I found out with the king of the fighters 2003 pcb that it was later fixed an unofficial build of the emu, although i've yet to try it.
I'll double check the rom and try older versions of the emu next. Edit:: Neo-Geo Cup '98 - The Road to the Victory is doing something similar. It starts up, i am able to pick various game options, but then when the game is about to start the emu goes black and the psp shuts off. Edit:: ssideki3, Super Sidekicks 3 - The Next Glory has the same problems, it shuts off the PSP.another world. Has anyone got the public domain homebrew files and prototypes working? I'm sure it's a romset issue, you need to rebuild 0.120 roms using a datfile and a tool like romcenter or mameclr Pro There are some tutorials around for emus like MAME4ALL which also require particular romsets. Just follow that procedure, only using the 0.120 datfiles when doing it. You can extract them from mame itself, if you can't find them (just download mame 0.120 and point romcenter to it). About the PSP shutting off, it might be because it's loading something uncorrectly, and it crashes because of that. Again, it's worth a shot to rebuild the games first.
About the PD stuff, the emu has an internal support list (IIRC) and it only sports commercial games. For the supported PD and prototypes, even if the files in the zip were incorrect the zip itself should show up in the list, and that is not happening. Raulpica, do you happen to have a mame 0.120 dat or know where i can find one? I'd also love a clr mame pro tutorial, that app has never made sense to me.
I'd like to check the roms i have against a dat to see if anything is incorrect. I'd also like to be able to build the working files, but i only have a very recent mame set and i don't think that will work.another world. I prefer romcenter over clrmame pro, I couldn't make head or tails of that app (actually I did once or twice, but I happen to always forget how to use the darn thing) Anyway, I found this for clrmame pro: And THIS for romcenter: Second link also has another link in it with all the old DATs, so you're set You can rebuild them from the newer set usually, at least I remember doing that. After using the mame 0.120 dat to check my set i found no mistakes with the roms i am using. Here are the problems i've found with the emu, so far.
